She has remained so wonderfully normal, that queen!
Yesterday, Danish Queen Mary was allowed to blow out 52 candles. Of course, an Instagram post also had to appear on the Danske Kongehus feed for the occasion. And as the new queen, do you opt for a balcony photo in full regalia? A perfect portrait with your whole family? No!
Citizen girl to queen
It is clear that Mary did not follow a standard path to her position as queen. She was born in Tasmania, worked as a marketing expert, and it wasn’t until the charming ‘Freddy’ she met at the Olympics turned out to be the Danish Crown Prince Frederik that her life suddenly took a particularly royal turn.
Yet, despite all that royal pomp and circumstance, she has always remained nice and normal. A down-to-earth Australian and a prince who grew up in a palace – the match is not very logical, but the two have been happy together for twenty years. Moreover, Mary is extremely popular among the Danish people.
Sweet photo
We also see Mary’s down-to-earth attitude in the snapshot that appeared yesterday on the social media of the Danish royal family.

Instead of a photo in full designer regalia, or an impressive photo of the royal family at the change of throne, Mary opts for a nice natural snapshot with her father! In the casual photo, the Danish court writes: “For the occasion, the Queen has chosen a photo of a special moment with her father from her recent trip to Australia in December.”
Moreover, there appears to be a very special person behind the photo: the then twelve-year-old Prince Vincent was responsible for this sweet photo of his mother and grandfather.
No designer dresses or expensive heirloom jewelry, just a sweet photo of the Queen with her locks in a quick braid next to her father. She has also remained so nice and normal, that Mary.
