A few stylish basics can go a long way.
No matter how many pairs we have in our closet, we never really have enough shoes. At least, now that the summer months have arrived again, you don’t actually need that much. With these five types of footwear you have everything you need to brave any terrace, beach or restaurant in style this summer.
1. Slippers
If you can wear slippers, then you know it really is summer. We prefer not to take them out of the closet too quickly – because they do not exactly have a high glamor or royal quality – but the slipper is ideal for a day at the beach or when the temperatures are tropical. You can’t have less shoe! However, slippers do not provide the best support for your feet, and a long walk in this footwear is therefore not recommended. To give your feet the best comfort, it is best to go for a brand with good quality.
2. Sandals
Sandals are slightly more chic and fashionable than slippers. But make no mistake, sandals also provide insufficient support for your feet. Sandals are great for a day at the beach, but not suitable for walking. Still, you should have sandals in your wardrobe, because let’s face it: a sandal looks much nicer under that summer dress than a slipper, right?
3. Espadrilles
As soon as summer comes, the espadrilles come out. Espadrilles are available in both flat and higher (wedge) versions. You must have this summer shoe because they come back every year, so you definitely won’t go wrong with this timeless shoe. In addition, espadrilles provide more support than slippers and sandals due to the thicker sole. This also makes espadrilles a lot more comfortable!
4. Ballerinas or loafers
Ideal if you have an occasion where you don’t want to wear your sandals, but you also don’t want to be overdressed with heels. Ballerinas or loafers are the ideal shoes that are comfortable to walk and yet dressy. Also nice as running shoes during a city trip. Make sure that the ballerina or loafer has a sturdy heel and always try on the shoe to ensure that it does not wrinkle at the toes. Which flat shoe is all the rage this season? The slingback! 5. Open high heels
Wedding or chic garden party? A pair of good killer heels are indispensable in your shoe closet. The right pair of heels complete your outfit. And because it’s summer, you’re obviously not going to shove your kitty feet into a tight shoe. Therefore, choose heels that are open. Airy and very beautiful. And let’s be honest: which shoe gives you more confidence than a good heel?
