This is how you eat your skin healthily.
Growing older comes with fun things, but certainly also less fun things. For example, we prefer to skip getting a face filled with grooves and wrinkles. Fortunately, you can partly prevent this by eating these five foods regularly.
1. Avocado
It is not without reason that avocados are regularly mentioned in the ‘superfoods’ category. They are rich in vitamin E and healthy fats – which are very important for young, healthy skin. By enjoying a portion of guacamole or avocado toast every now and then, you can help your skin produce sufficient collagen. This ensures that your skin remains firm and supple, reducing the chance of wrinkles.
2. Blueberries
Blueberries are good for a lot of things (read: healthy brains, strong bones, stable blood sugar levels), but they also take the cake when it comes to young skin. They are rich in antioxidants that help prevent premature skin aging. A handful mixed with cottage cheese every day works wonders!
3. Oily fish
The word ‘fat’ normally scares us. However, this does not always mean something bad. Oily fish contains a lot of omega-3 fatty acids. These, as it were, nourish your skin, keeping it full and wrinkles less likely to form. Fish species such as salmon, mackerel, sardines and anchovies can therefore immediately be added to the shopping list.
4. Sweet potato
Sweet potatoes can also benefit the youthfulness of your skin. These are packed with beta-carotene, a substance that is also found in carrots and protects you against negative influences from the sun. So it’s good to put something on the table more often – although this does not mean that you can throw your SPF overboard.
5. Citrus fruits
Lemons, oranges, grapefruits and limes: they all help to give your skin a boost in hydration and glow. Credit goes to the huge amount of vitamin C, which helps greatly increase collagen production.
