Kate gives an update in a video message.
Princess Kate herself said in a statement this evening how she is doing. She says that she is recovering from her abdominal surgery, but that cancer was found during her visit to the hospital.
Absence after surgery
With her prolonged absence, and silence from the court, the rumor mill went into overdrive about the reason for Kate’s operation and procedure. The rumors seemed to come to an end earlier this week when a video was released showing William and Kate together in public. But that was also questioned by royalty watchers. Subsequently, patient data from her hospital visit were possibly leaked and a few Photoshop errors were found in a photo of Kate and co.
Several sources had mentioned in recent weeks that Kate might want to reveal what was going on after her return to the spotlight, and tonight the time had finally come. Unfortunately, the princess had no good news to report.

Errand
In the video message – which was filmed in Windsor – Catherine says the news has come as a ‘huge shock’ to her and her family and that she and William have ‘done everything we can to process this privately’. She says they took the time to tell their children George, Charlotte and Louis. “As I told them, I am doing well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and soul. Having William by my side is also a great source of comfort and reassurance. As does the love, support and kindness shown by so many of you. It means so much to both of us.”
Kensington Palace has said it will not provide details about what type of cancer the princess has or what stage the cancer is at and has asked people not to speculate.
