The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Queen Máxima is known for her fashionable outfits, blonde locks and radiant smile. And she doesn’t get these things from a stranger. Our Max looks exactly like her mother Maria del Carmen Cerruti.
Maria del Carmen Cerruti
If you want to know where Máxima got her sense of style and beauty from, you only have to look at her mother. Maria del Carmen Cerruti is just as refined in her clothing and appearance as her eldest daughter.
Maria was the second wife of Jorge Horacio Zorreguieta, who died in 2017. Together they have four children: Máxima, Martín, Juan and Inés, who died in 2018.
Maria still lives in Argentina, but can regularly be found in The Hague. For example, we saw her in public on Budget Day in 2018.

Maria was also in the country during major events, such as the baptism of the princesses. Here with ‘other grandmother’ Beatrix at the baptism of Princess Amalia in 2004:

Wide sleeves and a large hat, it could have come straight from Queen Máxima’s wardrobe.

Visiting
In 2020, Maria even stayed at Huis ten Bosch Palace for a longer period of time. Queen Máxima’s mother was called in from Argentina to look after the princesses for a few days while Willem-Alexander and Máxima were on a state visit to Indonesia. But when the royal couple returned, the corona crisis broke out worldwide and Maria could not return home.
According to WA, having your mother-in-law over for such a long time was no problem at all, because ‘I have a darling mother-in-law’. The king also enjoyed having his Maria under his tiles to give the princesses the opportunity to get to know their grandmother better.
