Princess Mary (51) did not dream of a luxurious life! Today she becomes the new Queen of Denmark alongside her husband Prince Frederik (55). With her elegant manner, she is popular with the people – and looks like she was born for the throne! Before her wedding to the royal in 2004, the native Australian originally had completely different plans beyond glitz and glamour: Mary actually wanted to become a veterinarian!
In a 2012 interview, according to Gala, she remembered Princess Diana’s (✝36) wedding. Mary was persecuted on television at the age of nine – but the dream of a life as a royal never came to fruition! “Despite the royal spectacle, I never dreamed of it myself princess to become. My heart belonged to veterinary medicine,” she admits. Even when she took up numerous hobbies during her school years, such as basketball and musical instruments, her desire to work with animals remained.
Ultimately, the new Queen of Denmark studied “Commerce and Law” and ended up in the advertising industry – until the meeting with Frederik changed everything. However, her love for animals never disappeared. Mary is an enthusiastic rider – and has even successfully taken part in dressage competitions in Denmark! The family also has three dogs named Grace, Chloe and Coco.
