A leather trench coat and chunky black loafers!
When you appear on the scene as a royal, you look your best. Especially as a queen, you are expected to show your most glamorous side. And that soon includes a pair of high heels. However, Queen Letizia proves that this is not always necessary and this weekend she chose a rather unusual shoe for a royal lady: a pair of chunky black loafers!
Working visit
Queen Letizia was allowed to work again this weekend. This time for the closing of the 16th International Seminar on Language and Journalism: ‘Cambio Climatico, Lenguaje y Comunicacion’ in the Monastery of Yuso in Spain. The event was organized by the San Millán de la Cogolla Foundation and the FundéuRAE, an institution that helps improve the use of Spanish. This year’s seminar focused on climate change, language and communication. Letizia is honorary chairman and the project is close to her heart. She went out in good spirits and dressed!
Edgy look
Let’s be honest: it doesn’t really matter what you wear to the Queen of Spain. Leti would still look great in a messed up trash bag, and she takes advantage of that fact. More and more often she ditches her gown and appears in items that might not be in the wardrobe of an average queen. Her Majesty has already realized it: a royal does not always have to color within the lines and, if the occasion permits, can also come up with an edgy look.
For the occasion, the queen pulled out some of her coolest items from her wardrobe. The result: she appears during her work visit in a slightly sporty, comfy but fashionable look! She wears a beautiful black lambskin Lottusse trench coat and styles the classic ’90s garment with trousers from Pomandère, a ribbed top with high neck and a Nina Ricci ‘Marche’ handbag. Wow!
We thought the showpiece of the outfit was Letizia’s daring shoe choice. They were a pair of chunky black loafers from Martinelli, with an oversized gold chain on the shoe. We are fans!
Although this may be a somewhat unusual shoe choice for a royal lady, we think it is more than successful! Now we secretly hope that Letizia will emerge as a trendsetter and other royal ladies will follow. Because let’s face it: our Máxima would also rock these chunky loafers, right?
