Some days we really need our winter coat again. So time to get it out of the attic. But since it was lying in a pile or in the closet for months, it is cool enough to wash it before wearing it again. We will tell you how to do this without damaging your expensive coat in this article.
Airing
Washing your winter coat often doesn’t do much good. That is why it is best to postpone this as much as possible. So don’t throw it in the wash too often during the winter months if it is not really dirty, but let it air outside. Do you have a stain on it? First try to remove it locally before throwing it in the washing machine.
Washing winter coat
First of all, it is important that you know how to wash your winter coat. This is stated on the label on the inside. Did you cut this out and have no idea? Then be extra careful. A winter coat often contains a down filling, which makes it extra vulnerable. When this gets wet, it will stick and clump together if you do not wash and dry your jacket properly.
This is how you wash your winter coat
You simply wash your winter coat in the washing machine, but then only put your coat in it. It is important that there is still enough space left in the drum. Then choose a ‘gentle wash’ or ‘delicate’ program and wash the jacket at a maximum of 30 degrees. Before you turn on the washing machine, check whether all your pockets are empty and close the zippers. This way they do not damage the fabric of the jacket. Choose to spin at 600 to 800 revolutions for a maximum of 10 minutes. If you have them at home, throw in a few tennis balls to keep the filling in your jacket evenly distributed. After the washing program, let your jacket dry naturally. Lay your coat lying down to dry near your heater. Shake the jacket every half hour to prevent lumps in the filling.
