Jordanian Queen Rania recycled a dress that is no less than 25 years old in a new official photo.
The photo was released in honor of King Abdullah’s 25th anniversary in government. King Abdullah became king on February 7, 1999, when his father – King Hussein – died. Rania does not have the same anniversary date as her husband. She was proclaimed queen by King Abdullah on March 22, 1999. Otherwise, like the previous wives of Abdullah’s father, she would have been princess consort.
What is special about the dress she is wearing is that she also wore this dress in the very first official photo released of Rania as queen, in 1999.
Yesterday, Jordan celebrated the Silver Jubilee of King Abdullah (and Queen Rania). Many members of the royal family were present, including all the children and the two children-in-law of the king and queen.
Fashion Rania
Queen Rania wore a custom-made white couture creation with a striking ‘corset’ in gray over the creation. It is a design by Laith Almalouf. Silver-gray embroidery has been applied to the skirt. The lines of the ‘corset’ have special waves/curves.
Fashion Rajwa
Princess Rajwa, wife of Crown Prince Hussein, is expecting her first child this summer. She wears a red custom-made gown with matching cape by designer Serafi Honayda. The dress was specially designed for her in connection with the Silver Government Jubilee of her father-in-law. The colors of the Jordanian flag are incorporated into the embroidery. A nice example of Flag Dressing in our own country!
The black iris, the national flower of Jordan, is also incorporated in the embroidery. See the bottom of the embroidery in the photo below.
Fashion Iman
Princess Iman, the eldest daughter of King Abdullah and Queen Rania, was also present, along with her husband Jameel Alexander. She was dressed in a custom-made silver-colored gown by designer Edelina Joyce.
Fashion Salma
Princess Salma, the youngest daughter of King Abdullah and Queen Rania, wore a green dress with embroidery by Reemami. Salma’s dress is inspired by her military uniform (Princess Salma is in the army) and by various Jordanian flowers, including the black iris and the petunia.
