Swedish princess Madeleine celebrates birthday with sweet family snap

Hipp hipp, hurra!

Hip Hip Hooray! Or in Swedish: a very cheerful hipp hipp hurra for Princess Madeleine, the Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland. She can blow out 42 candles today, and celebrates with a beautiful photo of her family.

Young princess

On June 10, 1982, little Princess Madeleine Thérèse Amelie Josephine was born as the second daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. With older sister Victoria, big brother Carl Philip, and the little one, the family is complete.

As is typical for Swedish princesses, she goes to school in her home country and grows up in a palace. In 2001, however, the young adult princess decided to change course: she left for London to learn English there.

The ambitious lady then studied art history at Stockholm University, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in art history, ethnology and modern history in 2006. In 2007, the princess also studied child psychology. She clearly has a good brain, and is passionately committed to the Swedish people.

Love at second sight

On August 11, 2009, the happy Madeleine announced her engagement to Swedish lawyer Jonas Bergström, and their royal wedding was to take place after a postponement in the late summer of 2010. However, things turned out differently: the engagement was abruptly broken off, and the couple left with a broken heart. princess to New York City. Here she then put her heart and soul into the World Childhood Foundation.

Maddy also rediscovered love here: in October 2012, the Swedish court announced her engagement to the American businessman Christopher O’Neill. We now all know how this fairy tale turned out: the two got married and are still very happy with each other. They also have three beautiful kids together: Leonore, Nicolas and Adrienne.

Birthday snapshot

This morning the Swedish court shared a beautiful photo of the family in chic style, with mother and her daughters all wearing matching light blue dresses from Selfportrait.

Son Nicolas is also dressed in a suit for the occasion, with a matching light blue tie. Only on my husband there is not a single touch of the pastel color. Missed opportunity, Chris!

Relocation

Special detail: in the caption of the photo, the Swedish court reiterates that the family is now really coming to live in Sweden again. After several years of traveling back and forth between the spacious home in the United States and the Swedish palace, the time has now come. In April we reported that the house in the US had – finally, but still – been sold, and the move is getting closer.

“Princess Madeleine and her family are now moving back to Sweden. After several years abroad, the Princess and Mr. Chrisopther O’Neill have decided that the family will stay in Stockholm for now.”

Hopefully the princess can also make time for a piece of cake and a good glass of champagne between the moving boxes. Cheers, Your Highness, to your health!
