Due to all the fashion frenzy, the jewels of Prinsjesdag 2023 were somewhat neglected. In this blog we will put that right again, because had you noticed, for example, that Amalia wore a brooch on her back?
Let’s start with the queen. Máxima wore pink tourmaline and diamond earrings, which were made in the studio of jeweler Steltman.
Normally the ribbon of order is held in place by one or two brooches. This time two safety pins sufficed, going through the coat, orderly ribbon, top bra and back again. You could see this clearly when you left the carriage.
In terms of rings, Máxima opted for her wedding ring, engagement ring and the stunner made of diamond and kunzite. The diamond flower bracelets have been in use since early 2013 and are believed to be a gift from the Sultan of Brunei.
Jewels Princess Amalia
The Princess of Orange wore decorated pendants from Queen Máxima’s hermitage in her ears. The dark blue stones, probably tanzanite, normally hang from a pendant of about 1 centimeter. The longer diamond pendants to which the stones are now attached first appeared at Máxima a year and a half ago. They have probably been added to the royal collection because Amalia, Alexia and Ariane will also be present at gala occasions in the future.
To keep the ribbon of order in place, the princess wore a diamond brooch on her back. This is the half-moon brooch from Queen Máxima’s vault. At the end of 2001, when Máxima had almost no experience with royal jewelry, she wore it for the first time.

On her left hand Amalia wore a ring of diamond and kunzite. Borrowed from…. You probably guessed it already…. Maxima! A delicate sapphire and diamond bracelet appeared on her left wrist. The jewel is part of a three-piece bracelet set from Máxima’s safe. Nice detail: Alexia wore the ruby bracelet from the set. Play together, share together 😉

The Princess of Orange wore the most precious jewel on her right wrist on Budget Day.
This is a wide diamond bracelet. The jewel was made from the dismantled bracelet that Princess Juliana received as a gift from the Dutch East Indies at her wedding. Below you can see where the different parts come from.
Jewels Princess Alexia
Princess Alexia also wore diamonds from the Orange collection. Her earrings consist of two parts. The stud earrings have been around for quite some time and were also worn by Queen Máxima, Princess Beatrix and Princess Irene. It is difficult to say exactly which diamond is attached. There is too much beauty in the royal vault for that.

As you can see, Alexia wore the middle version of the collage above on Budget Day.
On her right wrist we see the ruby bracelet that was already discussed above, in the section about Amalia’s jewelry. The second glitter is a gold-colored bracelet, with a bar and red-green stones. From a distance it is impossible to tell whether this is real or ‘fake’.
In terms of rings, a ruby ring from the Oranje collection was featured (left) and the ring that Queen Máxima received at the birth of Princess Ariane. (middle). It is not known where the pink pinky ring comes from.
And yes, Alexia also wore a brooch on the order ribbon. Maxima’s favorite brooch adorned her back: a diamond bow.
