It’s been a while since the summer holidays and some of us are longing for a nice sun holiday. Is the summer still too long for you and do you want to enjoy a sun holiday now? Then fly to these destinations for the sun in the spring.
The Canary Islands
The Canary Islands belong to Spain, but are close to Morocco. This allows you to enjoy warm weather in spring. The well-known and vibrant islands of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife and Gran Canaria are many people’s favorites to escape the bad weather in the Netherlands.
Lanzarote is recommended to go to in the spring. The island not only has cute fishing villages and beautiful beaches, but there is also a lot to see and discover. Is it too cold for a day at the beach? Rent a car and discover the most beautiful places on the island. Drive past the Timanfaya National Park and along a poisonous green lake in the crater of an ancient volcano, called Lago Verde.
Don’t get us wrong, you can also enjoy a wonderful holiday in the spring on the other islands. For example, the average temperature on Gran Canaria is between 16 and 25 degrees and it is almost always dry. In April it rains on average three days and in May and June only one day. Perfect weather for a nice sun holiday.
Cape Verde
After six hours of flying you will find yourself on a beautiful and tropical beach. Spring is the perfect time to fly to Cape Verde, as it is the driest and sunniest time of the year. The Cape Verde Islands are located off the west coast of Africa in the North Atlantic Ocean, near Senegal and therefore have wonderful warm temperatures that we unfortunately do not have in the Netherlands. Choose one of the islands and enjoy the beaches and the azure blue sea.
Swim, surf or dive in the wonderful blue sea and enjoy hours of sun on the beautiful sandy beaches. Would you rather not spend the whole day on the beach? Then Cape Verde is also something for you. On the islands you can hike the most beautiful routes through beautiful green mountain landscapes or climb the Fogo volcano.
ABC Islands
Does Cape Verde not appeal to you, but do you want to enjoy the beaches and azure blue sea? Then choose one of the three ABC Islands. Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao are great favorites among Dutch people to go to in the spring. Not very good at the English language? Then the Netherlands Antilles are ideal for you, as the main language is Dutch.
Choose Aruba for the vibrant nightlife and American character. Fan of diving and surfing? Then choose Bonaire. Do you want to enjoy the vibrant life and enjoy the beautiful sea? Then you have to go to Curaçao. Here you can enjoy wonderful beaches during the day and in the evening you can go wild at the various parties or go out for dinner and shopping in pleasant Willemstad.
Portugal
Portugal is also a nice holiday destination for spring. The temperature is perfect and not too hot. The weather is wonderful for taking a dip, but also for discovering a nice Portuguese city. It is much more pleasant to discover Lisbon or Porto in the spring rather than in the hot summer months.
The Portuguese island of Madeira is also a fantastic spring destination. Madeira is known as the flower island and blooms beautifully in spring. A beautiful island for walking, cycling or enjoying the sun on a cozy terrace.
You should be in the Algave in May. In the south, temperatures rise considerably in the summer. Spring is perfect for sunbathing on the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, but it is also not too hot to go out and about. Recommended!
Dubai
After a seven-hour flight you can enjoy the fantastic holiday destination Dubai. Dubai is a real jet set destination with luxurious resorts, hip clubs and expensive restaurants, but you can also enjoy a wonderful holiday here for less money. You don’t have to worry about bad weather. The temperature in spring is between 23 and 31 degrees and is perfect for a sun holiday. Have fun on the beaches, in the shopping centers and at the delicious restaurants.
