Rens Kroes’ husband, Sid, has been sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for rape. Yvonne Coldeweijer shared a lot of disturbing information about Sid on her Instagram channel and Rens mainly pretended that her nose was bleeding. That rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Now she is speaking out for the first time, in a very special way.

Rens Kroes makes himself heard
Despite the fact that a lot of (heavy) news came out about her husband, Rens kept a low profile. Many people thought it was absurd that she stayed with a man who she knew what he was up to. Especially because it involved a lot of intense things. For the first time, Rens is speaking out on Instagram, but she does not do so in a very concrete way. On Instagram, Kroes shares a recipe for a chocolate tart and gives an update about the ‘low points’ in her life. The video starts with: ‘Start can’t shine without darkness’. Low points in her life
When talking about those low points in her life, Rens says the following: “I also experience low points in my life, but happiness can still be found in these times. For me, there is always the opportunity to push past the struggle to get to a place where I can find joy, the light within. And nourishing my body is one of the ingredients that helps me find this.”
What is striking is that she does not explicitly say anything about Sid himself, but speaks more about a general period of low points.
Conviction of Sid
Rens Kroes’ husband Sid was convicted on appeal for rape on April 11. The news about this rape was not new, because in 2019 he was already found guilty of rape and had to go to prison for two years. He appealed, but that did not necessarily work out better for him. He has currently been sentenced to 4.5 years in prison, which is higher than the sentence he received in 2019. The court cited, among other things, ‘brutal violence against a woman who was more than twelve years younger’ as aggravating circumstances. Because there was a chance that Sid might flee, he had to go to jail immediately.
