One from the category ‘I want to know but I don’t want to know’: the place with the most bacteria, yeasts and mold in your bathroom. We can imagine that you immediately think of the toilet seat, but this is certainly not the winner. NSF International has conducted thorough research and has come to a surprising conclusion.
Surprising result
Namely, not the toilet seat, but the toothbrush holder is the most disgusting spot in the bathroom. Mold and yeast were found on as many as 64% of these toothbrush holders. To put it into perspective: that is a lot more than the 27% of toilet seats where this dirt was found. Not surprising: a toothbrush holder is damp, it is dark, and… can you remember the last time you cleaned it thoroughly? The runner-up on the list is the tap, which can also be a source of yeasts and molds.

Yet, according to doctors, we don’t have to worry so much. “People are overly afraid of viruses and bacteria in their bathroom. Most of them are harmless and do not differ much from other bacteria in the home.” But it might still be a good idea to wipe it over with a cloth tonight…
