A wonderfully recognizable, homely scene!
As the Scandinavian days grow shorter and colder and the enchanting feeling of the holidays approaches, the Danish royal family gathers in Amalienborg to perform a magical ritual: decorating the Christmas tree. The Danish court shares a video of how this works on Instagram.
Christmas with the Oranjes
Preparations for Christmas are also in full swing in our little country, and the Oranges are happily participating. Since last Sunday there has been a beautifully decorated Christmas tree at Huis ten Bosch again. The royal family shared a video on its Instagram account, showing how the Christmas tree is brought to the square in front of the residential palace of the king and his family in The Hague. To stay in the Christmas spirit, some nice Christmas music has been added to the video.
As usual, the nine-meter-high Christmas tree was placed and decorated on the first Sunday of Advent. Transporting and decorating the Christmas tree turns out to be a major task that requires a tow truck, an aerial work platform and a whole team of employees.
Amalienborg
After seeing the beautifully decorated Christmas tree at Huis ten Bosch, the Danes cannot stay behind. And decorating the tree in Denmark is a lot more homely than with the Oranjes. In the winter palace Amalienborg, the Christmas tree was decorated in the knight’s hall by yes: the Danish royals themselves! In the video that the Danish court shares on Instagram, we see how Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, together with their royal offspring (including dog), decorate the Christmas tree. It looks like a cozy family scene, resulting in a beautifully decorated Christmas tree.
