“There is no greater honor than being by your side.”
Titles, knighthoods, grand ribbons, rosettes and appointments: as a royal you can save them, but you can also hand them out. This week, Jordan’s Queen Rania was awarded a Grand Cordon with Brilliants of the High Order of Independence by her husband, King Abdullah.

As a royal you should of course commit yourself to a good cause. You watch, listen, assume a role in a charity organization, and show your most committed side. And on the other hand, you will now and then receive a large ribbon or trinket.
This Wednesday, Jordanian Princess Rania was awarded the highest degree in the High Order of Independence by her great love, King Abdullah II. The queen earned the tribute for her “outstanding services” and her “leading role in the progress of the Jordanian community”, and her commitment to “supporting Jordanians in all areas”.

Of course, such a tribute for your husband is no small feat, and the royal couple takes the opportunity to further celebrate their love for each other. Extra festive: this year is also 25 years since the monarch ascended the throne. For the occasion, Abdullah wrote a letter to his wife, overflowing with love and respect.
“I have always known you as a loving wife and a caring woman to our children, Al Hussein, Iman, Salma and Hashem,” Abdullah said. He also shares that the people are massive fans of his great love. “Every time I enter a Jordanian village or house, people ask me to say hello and thank you for your commitment to the development of our country.” Cute!
The awarding of the Grand Ribbon was of course accompanied by some pomp and circumstance, and for the occasion Rania was dressed in a dark robe with red accents. She matched this flawlessly with a set of red pumps and a stylish clutch from Bottega Veneta.

Via Instagram, the social media savvy queen shares some images from the day, and responds with her own loving plea. “I am honored by this recognition,” she begins her message, “but there is no greater honor than being by your side and no responsibility greater than your trust.”

In the snapshots it is clearly visible how Rania shines next to her other half. And let’s be honest: that grand ribbon also looks great on her.
