Queen Camilla gets a special new role

A great honor!

Just hours after Queen Camilla and her husband King Charles flew by helicopter from Buckingham Palace to their private grounds in Sandringham, Camilla was scheduled for another special ceremony at Clarence House. This is where the royal was sworn in as an honorary member of the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers, and you don’t want to miss that!

Ceremony

Last Tuesday evening, King Charles’ wife took part in a special ceremony at her residence in the British capital. ‘Why make it difficult when you can just invite the whole circus to your home?’ must have been on the queen’s mind, who – as we all know – has enough on her mind. The company was given special permission to perform the ceremony at Clarence House, rather than within the square footage of the area called the ‘City of London’.

Gown

Accompanied by the Duchess of Gloucester, wife of the late Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, Camilla appeared in an elegant dress with see-through sleeves in a cozy leopard print.

However, during the ceremony, the Queen’s outfit was covered by a gown, which was draped over her shoulders by another important member of the company.

The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers provides grants to various charities benefiting London’s most disadvantaged people. They provide grants and support to institutions today associated with the ancient craft of fan making, such as makers of jet engines, heaters, air conditioning and ventilation systems.

Heirloom

Although the company now focuses on more modern technologies, these are of course all descendants of the traditional fan. A personal heirloom of Queen Camilla is exhibited in The Fan Museum, which is affiliated with the organization: a dark blue fan that originally belonged to the queen’s great-grandmother, Alice Keppel. This fan was apparently repaired by experts associated with the museum. “It is beautiful and very special,” says Her Majesty.

Visit church service

Although Camilla’s husband King Charles is said to be taking rest at Sandringham following his cancer diagnosis, the couple did attend church service at St Mary Magdalene Church last Sunday. The royal couple was photographed waving to the photographers as they moved across their estate to the church. It’s nice to see that the king feels good enough for this!
