From Norwegian princess to ‘recruit Alexandra’.
One thing is certain: Princess Ingrid Alexandra does not sit still. Last year, the Norwegian princess graduated, moved into her own ‘hipster apartment’, and started working as an assistant at her old primary school. And now it’s time for a new challenge: 12 months of military training!
Engineer Battalion
Ingrid Alexandra proudly started her military adventure in the Engineer Battalion of the Norwegian Army. The young royal arrived last week, but yesterday the Norwegian press was given the first glimpse into her military world. During the training on Wednesday, the princess learned the first tricks of the trade: it was explained how a gun works and how to assemble it.

Commander Lieutenant Colonel Bjørn Kråkstad said he was ‘proud’ that Princess Ingrid Alexandra had chosen the Engineer Battalion. The headquarters, which is located in the town of Øverbygd, has approximately 800 soldiers.
Recruit Alexandra
There was some speculation in advance about what name the princess would wear on her badge. Normally the surname is used for this, but yes… the Norwegian royal family does not use that! Her badge therefore simply reads ‘Recruit Alexandra’.
During her 12 months in training, Ingrid Alexandra will absolutely not be treated differently because of her royal title. According to NRK, as a recruit she will not only learn the basics of military training, but also take on the daily responsibilities of a soldier. From mopping floors to making beds and taking classes, the princess is expected to do exactly the same as her fellow soldiers!

Birthday
It is hoped that Ingrid Alexandra will have time for some relaxation between activities. This weekend the princess turns 20 years old! We are very curious to see what this birthday will look like…
