Princess Beatrix was present today at the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Njord student rowing club in Leiden. She was also allowed to baptize the new competition rowing boat, which was named Beatrix.
“Princess Beatrix is welcomed by a guard of honor of competitive rowers from Njord and other student rowing clubs. The Princess will then speak with board members of Njord and the Swan Committee that organizes the anniversary celebration. Princess Beatrix then receives a tour of the boat shed and speaks with members and former members of Njord about rowing and their experiences at the association. After the baptism, the new boat, a figure eight, is rowed out onto the Galgewater by a group of rowers from Njord.
Njord was founded on June 5, 1874 and is the oldest student rowing club in the Netherlands. Several rowers from Njord have participated in the Olympic Games and the current Talent selection of TeamNL also includes members from Njord. In addition to the 150th anniversary of the association, the thirtieth anniversary of student rowing in the Netherlands will also be celebrated with other associations on June 8.”
Princess Beatrix is dressed in a beautiful cobalt blue suit. This color suits her so well. And the jacket still has a typical Beatrix silhouette.

Earlier this week, Princess Beatrix also attended the 77th edition of the Holland Festival. On this occasion, she wore black trousers with a black top, which is richly decorated with silver-colored sequins.
