“There is not a single white wall,” says Carice van Houten.
A while ago, Carice van Houten gave us a unique glimpse into her house. None other than interior stylist Nicole Dohmen from Atelier ND took care of her home and the end result was shown in Architectural Digest magazine a year ago. And it is insane, to say the least.
Aesthetics, interior design and color
Carice likes to keep as much of her life private as possible. We rarely see her boyfriend and never see her child at all. It is therefore very rare that we now get a glimpse into her house. But of course a party for us! “I am very proud to finally show my house that I created together with @atelier.nd.interior. It has reignited my love for aesthetics, interior design and color and I would like to do this much more,” the actress writes on the cover of Architectural Digest magazine in 2022, which shows a room of her home.
Colour
Carice clearly does not shy away from a bit of color in the house. “There is not a single white wall,” Carice van Houten told AD Magazine. Just before the corona pandemic, she bought a new house with her partner Guy Pearce. Due to their son’s school age, they had decided to travel less and so they started looking for a nice home base. They found that in a house just outside Amsterdam.
Creative counterpart
The next step was furnishing the house. “I had a clear vision, but also endless possibilities. I can lose myself all night on the internet looking for furniture, but I needed a creative counterpart that would bring structure,” Carice explained. When she happened to visit Nicole Dohmen’s Atelier ND store in the center of Amsterdam, she found her partner in crime in the interior designer. Together they made the house completely to her style. Eye catchers
The end result is exactly as Carice imagined. A mixture of different styles, colors and patterns, but still one whole. “Purple runs like a common thread through the house, even though it is not an easy color. I love pink even more, Nicole had to stop me from overdoing it.” She previously had a bright pink kitchen, which she said goodbye to. “It was a bit exaggerated.”
A number of eye-catchers in the house are the candy pink Vispring bed in the bedroom, the purple Kvadrat rug in the living room, the purple Étoffe Unique curtains in the dining area and the antique pink wallpaper by Kelly Wearstler in the hallway.
