When you step inside you are welcomed by the refined interior and harmonious atmosphere.
At an altitude of 1300 meters you will find this centuries-old family farm in Pustertal in East Tyrol. A place that takes you back to old times, but with a modern touch. Plus: a view that will never bore you.
Family house in East Tyrol
After a road full of hairpin bends you arrive at the family home of Johanna Trojer. A farm full of history. And not only that, because the view of snow-capped mountain peaks, sharp rocks and cozy villages makes the place a dream destination. Johanna: ‘It is mainly sunny here all year round. The location is very quiet, without any traffic or noise, as the street ends directly behind the house.’
Johanna breathed new life into the house together with her daughter Stephanie. How they were going to approach the renovation was a difficult decision, because they wanted to preserve the authentic atmosphere. ‘The house was in a very poor condition, so it took me almost ten years to decide what to do.’ However, they have always believed in the project. And with results.

From head to toe
When you drive up, at first glance the house looks just like an average house in Tyrol. With the characteristic sloping roofs and wooden facades. But when you enter the building, you are welcomed by the refined interior and harmonious atmosphere. However, that has not always been the case. ‘The stone walls were partially crumbling. The western part of the house deteriorated due to the soft ground, causing large cracks in the walls where swallows built their nests.’
‘The exterior woodwork was largely rotten, including the roof which was in urgent need of repair. There was no central heating, just the old ovens that had to be heated with wood, and the water froze in the winter.” An expensive renovation followed, during which the complex rules of a restoration of a protected monument had to be continuously taken into account.
