Rusk with mice for the Grand Ducal family!
Big news from small Luxembourg today. The Cour Grand Ducale announced via Instagram that Prince Félix and Princess Claire have welcomed their third child!
Family expansion
Last summer, the Luxembourg court came with the happy news that Prince Félix, the second son of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, and his wife were expecting a baby boy. A sweet family photo of the proud parents with their daughter Amalia and son Liam read: “Their Royal Highnesses The Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg are very pleased to announce that Prince Félix and Princess Claire are expecting their third child. Both families share in the joy of their children.”
And now the time has come! In an official announcement, the Luxembourgers announced that Princess Claire gave birth to a baby boy yesterday.

The announcement (which is immediately shared in four languages - Luxembourgish is simply not common among fellow royals) reveals that the young prince was born in the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, with a healthy weight of 3.22 kilos and a length of 50 centimeters.
“We are extremely pleased to announce the birth of our son,” the official message begins. A little further on they immediately reveal the name of the young royal: “The newborn prince will bear the name Balthasar Felix Karl.” The court also announced that both the little one and his mother are doing well.
Big family
With the endless summer family snapshots that the Grand Ducal family (and especially the Grand Duchess herself) shared via Instagram last year, it is clear that the young Prince Balthasar ends up in an incredibly loving family.
With his birth, the count now stands at seven grandchildren for Henri and Maria Teresa. However, it is not expected to be long before another little one arrives. Last month, Princess Alexandra and her husband Nicolas Bagory announced that they are expecting their first child together. This next Luxembourgish sprout will probably see the light of day next spring. It is to be hoped that the court still has a supply of rusk with mice!
