Like mother, like son!
It is nothing new that William has acquired the necessary physical characteristics from his mother, but it seems that the prince is also taking over more and more habits from the late Princess Diana. Like Lady Di, he regularly wears two watches.
Unusual style choice
Although Williams’ clothing style is usually mainly characterized by safe clothing, he occasionally makes an unusual style choice. The prince is regularly spotted with not one, but two watches on his wrists. One wrist is adorned with his Omega Seamaster 300m, a gift from mother Diana that he has worn faithfully for more than twenty years. On the other wrist, William opts for a more technical timepiece: a smartwatch that, given the activity tracking, most likely functions as an aid in his goal of keeping up with the super-fit Princess Kate.
Like mother, like son
Wearing two watches is a striking choice for the Prince of Wales – because how many people do something like that? Well, at least his mother Princess Diana. We all remember the moment when two timepieces appeared on her arm during a polo match in Windsor in 1981. Her reason? Probably purely practical – Lady Di was probably looking after the watch of her husband Charles, who was on the polo field at the time.
While Diana’s choice was mainly practical, son William’s was probably more considered. The watch his mother gave him has sentimental value, and well, that smartwatch is necessary with a fit girl like Kate by your side. Making a choice between these two is not an option for the prince, so he wears two watches!
Even more smartwatches in the family
William is not the only one in the royal family who finds it important to continuously measure his heart rate and number of steps. Stepmother Camilla and uncle Prince Edward are also the proud owners of a smartwatch. Although Camilla was first regularly spotted with a FitBit, the queen is now increasingly showing up without the watch. Instead, a Cartier timepiece now hangs on her wrist. Well: choices, choices…
