Royal Christmas tradition
While our Christmas traditions end with glamorous gourmet dining in a glittering dress with the family, they approach it differently with the various royal families in Europe. The British are of course now having a Christmas concert for the third year in a row led by Princess Kate, various monarchs are finishing up their speeches around the turn of the year, and we are eagerly awaiting the Oranges, Windsors, Bernadottes, and De Borbóns again. sharing family Christmas cards.
But we really owe the most special Christmas tradition to the Danes! They have been sharing their own unique Advent calendar since 2016. Through their site and social media, a door of the digital countdown calendar opens every day, with all kinds of fun behind it.
Countdown
Today the Danish court announced that they are honoring the tradition: with a cheerful illustration of the Danish palace, the Danes are counting down to December 25.

We will not complain about the order of the windows to be opened – after all, the court itself ensures every day that they show what is hiding behind the doors. Through their website, the Danes have already given us a little glimpse of what we can expect. “Last year, like this year, little stories were shared about Christmas in the Royal House of Denmark.” Cute!
The first window will open tomorrow morning at 7 a.m., giving us a unique look behind the scenes of the Christmas preparations of the Danish royal family and the rest of the court.
Special stories
Over the years we have seen many creative stories passed through the digital platforms of the Danske Kongehus. They look back on this in their announcement today:

The tradition started in 2016 with unique snapshots from the archives of the Danish royal family. The following year, the creative queen Margrethe shared her homemade Christmas decorations, and in subsequent years the focus was on a handmade family of paper Christmas elves and the adventures they experienced. In short: that bodes well!
