No less than 65 years ago, they exchanged vows.
It’s a party in our southern neighbours! Today, the Belgian King Albert II and Queen Paola celebrate their wedding day, and it’s not just any wedding day. The royal couple said ‘I do’ to each other no less than 65 impressive years ago: a brilliant wedding that absolutely deserves to be remembered.

The streamers can be hung and the cake cut, because today the Belgian royal family celebrates the 65th wedding anniversary of their royal couple Albert and Paola. On July 2, 1959, the two got married. Despite all the ups and downs, they have managed to survive all those years together. The king has now reached the respectable age of 90, and his wife Paola has reached 86.
Incidentally, the couple chose to celebrate this anniversary only in private. No big party with a lot of fanfare or public appearance, but only intimately with the family. And we understand that all too well at that age. “It is a private matter,” says the palace about the celebration. The Belgian court did not share a family photo this year, but only a snapshot of the couple together on a bench. With a satisfied smile and a loving arm around Paola’s shoulders, the couple looks happy. Sweet!

Party
Although no family photo was released, the royal couple did not let this special event pass them by. Last weekend, a private party was held with the family. The group traveled to their villa Le Romarin, in the south of France. An intimate gathering in the beautiful garden of the villa, that sounds like a perfect party if you ask us. That is also where the touching photo of the couple was taken, lovingly together on a bench in the backyard. We would not wish for more in our old age.
