Christmas is coming! Every year, December really shakes up the usual single charts: the Christmas classics from Wham!, Mariah Carey (54) and Co. climb to the top of the most popular songs and leave all the new hits behind. The first 15 places in the official German single charts are currently occupied exclusively by Christmas songs – there are numerous more below. The “Queen of Christmas” once again lands in first place Mariah with their evergreen “All I Want For Christmas Is You”. Unsurprisingly, in second place is “Last Christmas” by Wham! followed by “Merry Christmas Everyone” by Shakin’ Stevens on the podium. In addition, there are still Melanie Thornton (✝34), Kelly Clarkson (41), Sia (47) or Chris Rea (72) with their hits for the cozy season are among the most popular songs.
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” has long been out of the top of the German charts at Christmas time. Since 2019, the song has made it back to number one every year – both in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The single was sold over a million times in this country, making it one of the best-selling in Germany.
