The fans now have to say goodbye! The British actress Glynis Johns is probably known to most as the loving Mrs. Winifred Banks from the cult film “Mary Poppins”. However, the South African native made her breakthrough on the Broadway stage a decade earlier – at that time she was considered one of the biggest Broadway stars of all time. But now sad news is making the rounds: Glynis died at the age of 100!
Her publicist Mitch Clem shared the news of the Tony winner’s passing with the Washington Post today. Glynis died of natural causes in a residential home in Los Angeles. She only celebrated her 100th birthday there in October. “Today is a sad day for Hollywood. She is the last of the last of the old Hollywood,” mourns Mitch.
Glynis is said to have been married four times in her life. Her son Gareth was born from her first marriage to the British actor Anthony Forwood. He was also active as an actor. He died in 2007 as a result of cancer.
