Oops!
The sun is showing itself more and more often and so we are already looking for new transitional jackets. Have you found the jacket of your dreams? Remove the price tag and put it on! Not at all, because you are forgetting something else very important.
Cut away
Many blazers and longer jackets have a kind of ‘x’ sewn into the back, between the slit of the fabric at the bottom. Not everyone seems to be aware of it, but you should cut out this ‘x’. Why? It serves no purpose for you as the wearer of the jacket to leave it on.
Function
The ‘x’ is simply there so that the jacket is less likely to wrinkle when it is brought from the factory to the store and when it is on the shelves of the stores. Other than that they have no purpose whatsoever. They prevent wrinkles in the store, but once you get home with your purchase and are ready to wear, you can simply cut out the ‘x’.
Looks nicer
Of course, you may forget – or you may not have known this ‘x’ was there at all. That’s not a bad thing at all, but it does make your jacket look a little less good. By removing the ‘x’ the jacket looks better, because it moves more naturally with you. You can also move more freely in your new coat.
