Attempt two for the Duchess.
The Sussexes are not sitting still this week! Yesterday they surprised many royalty watchers with the launch of their completely new website, and then even more great news was added: Duchess Meghan Markle has joined forces with a podcast network!
New collaboration
The podcast series Archetypes was launched on Spotify with much fanfare, but after only one season this collaboration was stopped. Luckily, Meghan has now landed a new pod partner!
For example, the company Lemonada Media announced that the Duchess will soon debut a new show, and that the first season of Archetypes will be available via Lemonada’s platform.

The Sussexes also share the good news on their (brand new) own site. Here, among other things, Archetypes are discussed as a ‘record-breaking’ and ‘widely praised’ podcast. The partnership with Lemonada should “democratize access” to the podcast, and CEO Jessica Cordova Kramer expresses her confidence in “Meghan’s unparalleled talents as a hostess, creator and conversationalist.”
Co-founder Stephanie Wittels Wachs added: “We were blown away by her collaborative spirit and clear vision, along with her deep desire to create compassion and community through this work.”
Criticism
It is unclear whether the two founders of Lemonada simply did not notice or perhaps ignored the endless criticism that Archetypes received at the time. It is of course not without reason that the series was canceled after one season, and afterwards a lot of fuss was made by various ‘insiders’ about the difficult collaboration with the Sussexes.
In fact, the Highnesses’ most prominent opponent was none other than Spotify boss Bill Simmons, who was in charge of Spotify’s podcast department. As befits a podcast celebrity, Simmons of course also has his own podcast. And he made no secret of his opinion about the Sussexes.
“I wish I had been involved in the ‘Harry and Meghan leaving Spotify’ conversations. ‘The F*cking Rip-Offs’ is what we should have called their podcast,” he shared at the time.
He added: “I need to get drunk sometime and then tell the story about the Zoom call I had with Harry to help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories… F*ck them. The rip-offs.”
Let’s hope that the collaboration with Lemonada will have a longer and happier life…
