Amid all the sad news surrounding Charles, there is also good news among the royals. King Harald has recovered from the respiratory infection that he has been suffering from since last week. The frost has even started working again.
Respiratory infection
Given his respectable age of 86 and his medical record in recent years, it was not a huge surprise when the Norwegian court reported last week that Harald had to take it easy. Due to a respiratory infection, the king temporarily transferred his duties to Crown Prince Haakon.
Up and running
Although it has not even been a week since the Norwegian palace made the statement, it seems that Harald is completely up and running again. Completely against everyone’s expectations, the frost made its appearance again last Monday at an event of the Oslo Military Society. Armed with his walking stick, images show him parading across the red carpet.

Harald may have unexpectedly quickly resumed his royal duties, but we are not at all surprised. The Norwegian frost has been unstoppable for years. He recovered in 2003 after a diagnosis of bladder cancer, recovered well from heart surgery in 2020 and managed to return to work in good spirits last year after several hospital visits.

After the abdication of fellow Queen Margrethe – who broke with the age-old tradition of remaining on the throne until death – he has already announced that he wants to retain his title at all costs.
