Paul Roos participated last season as a Bachelor in the program of the same name. He went looking for love on Zanzibar. He went home with Josephine, then dated Eline, but this did not last long with both girls. Paul looks back on this adventure and what it all meant to him.

Paul as The Bachelor
It was a great adventure for Paul to participate as a Bachelor. He says he has learned a number of things. He tells his story to Daily Nonsense. First he learned that finding love on TV is really difficult. “When you think you’ve found her, you get dumped five days after the TV show. Turns out I’m not decisive enough and I should have asked her more questions,” says Paul. By this he of course refers to Josephine.
Paul also believes that reality shows paint a somewhat distorted picture of both himself and the women. “I was portrayed as the alpha male. . I was there for a month and each episode is three days, of which three days of footage is cut into fragments of about 15 seconds. All conversations quickly turn to topics of love, relationships and family.”
Confronting
Although Paul experienced his time in Zanzibar as a wonderful adventure, it was also confrontational for him. “In the end it went into different phases. The first phase is that you see yourself on TV. That was a ‘what the fuck’ moment. Only then will you realize that it was not a school project, but that you really participated in The Bachelor. That was quite confrontational.” He also indicates that he has developed a thicker skin through his participation, because you always receive comments.
Little content
Paul also has the feeling that people label him as superficial and he thinks that is a shame. “I don’t think my humor came out there,” he says. “But at the same time, it is not a program that you watch for very substantive conversations.”
Relationships disturbed
What Paul has also noticed is that his current relationships with friends and family have become different. The fact that he is in the picture and is spoken to a lot does not always have a positive effect. Afterwards he also plays a leading role in conversations, and he feels that this disrupts his existing relationships. “It’s not all that interesting,” says Paul.
