Queen Máxima opened the renovated Museum Hindeloopen this afternoon. The museum, which has been housed in the former town hall of Hindeloopen since 1919, has been completely renovated and expanded with a visitor center.
The museum focuses on Hindeloopen culture. The Frisian city of Hindeloopen on the former Zuiderzee has developed its own culture through trade with Northern European countries. Museum Hindeloopen shows that culture through a journey with a Hindelooper ship type to St. Petersburg, colorful costumes and colorfully painted furniture with specific patterns of curls, flowers and leaves. The museum also pays attention to the local language, created by trade. Hindeloopen has been awarded the UNESCO World Heritage label.
Fashion
For the festive occasion, Máxima bought a red dress with a waterfall neck. The designs are still being sought. Her red turban has been in service for more than ten years and was designed by Fabienne Delvigne. More information and images will follow.
