Kumail Nanjiani (45) looks back on his marriage. The native Pakistani is now a celebrated film star. Things couldn’t be going better for him in his personal life either. He has been with the author since 2007 Emily V. Gordon (44) married – but she had to wait until after the wedding to apply. Kumail didn’t kneel before her until three years later!
On “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” the actor says he married his wife without first putting a ring on her finger. When she told him at some point that she would have liked to propose, he proposed to her. “We got a really small hotel room on the beach and at midnight we were playing video games. I said, ‘Hey, come out to the beach with me,'” the “Eternals” actor recalls. He has it there Emily then asked the question of all questions and gave her a “nicer” ring than at the wedding. Back then it was only enough for $25 rings from Walmart.
Furthermore explained Kumail, how the wedding could come about without an engagement: “We had a very adult conversation, decided to get married and stood in line in front of the town hall, where a wonderful registrar married us.” Even though the employee must have married 40 people that day, it felt special to her.
