Great news for musical and royalty lovers: Princess Beatrix is getting her own musical! Production house MediaDome has announced that it is busy working on a performance about the life of our former queen.
Beatrix the Musical
The immense success of series such as The Crown and Máxima has shown that the life of the royal family is excellent material for drama and entertainment. And that trend seems to continue in the musical world, because production house MediaDome today announced that it has started a musical production about Beatrix. “In Beatrix the Musical the audience is taken into all the moving events in her life under the crown and situations within the walls of the palace,” according to the makers.
Unfortunately, we will have to be patient for a while, because Beatrix the Musical will premiere in the fall of 2026. MediaDome does share a small teaser of the production:
Location
Producers Alex Mensen and Okke Verberk say they are proud to be able to make this production. “We have been thinking about this unique idea for years. Eighteen months ago we started looking for a suitable location where we could stage the musical in a grand and spectacular setting, and we found it.” A new theater is being built for the production in an existing hall near Eindhoven.
Maxima
Will Bea also stand in line for a ticket? That’s just the question. In any case, we wouldn’t be surprised if she keeps a little distance from the production – just like Máxima does with the Videoland series about her life. When asked whether she would watch this, our queen once replied: “I don’t think so. I have not read the book either, and with all due respect to the makers and also to the writer – it will certainly be of high quality – but I find it very strange to read about myself.” And we can imagine something about that too!
