Have you met the Siamese twins Abby and Brittany Hensel?

Have you met the Siamese twins Abby and Brittany Hensel? They are one of the most famous conjoined twins in the world. Their unique life story quickly caught the attention of the media. They have performed in their own TLC series and appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. But what does the life of the sisters look like?

Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany

Abby and Brittany Hensel were born in 1990 in the United States. They have become quite well-known in the media, but over the years the sisters have chosen to live a life outside the spotlight. They now focus mainly on their careers and personal lives. Despite their fame, the ladies lead a relatively normal life. They both graduated from Bethel University and now work as teachers at an elementary school in their hometown. Together they receive one salary. They fully understand this. However, the Siamese twins want to negotiate their salary in the future, because it is quite unique to be able to offer the dual perspectives they have in education.

What does life look like?

As Siamese twins, Abby and Brittany each have their own head and heart, but share almost all other organs. Abby has control over her right arm and leg, while Brittany controls the left side of their bodies. This doesn’t necessarily mean they have to do everything together. For example, they both have separate digestive systems and stomachs, but they share the same bladder. It’s often convenient to share meals, but they still eat separately sometimes.

In 2021, Abby made headlines, as she had just married Josh Bowling. The media raised all sorts of questions about how the relationship works, especially since Brittany and Abby are so closely connected. People are curious about the ladies’ lives, but the sisters are quite reserved when it comes to their private lives. They therefore quickly indicated that, just like everyone else, they value their privacy and do not want to share everything about their lives. Can the sisters actually have children? They have stated that this is probably possible. Mother Patty confirmed that the necessary organs of the Siamese twins function well.

Daily life

In addition to their life as teachers, the Siamese twins also have other activities. For example, the sisters both got their driver’s license at 16. Together they operate the car. Abby operates the pedals and gearshift and Brittany is responsible for the indicators and lights. What would happen if they were pulled over for a traffic violation, they do not know.
