Enjoy: this is how many Easter eggs we eat on average

There are probably more than you think…

It’s almost time again: next weekend we celebrate Easter! In addition to time with family, a nice breakfast, and a possible Easter service on Sunday morning, this also includes the necessary Easter eggs. But how many of these tasty treats do we actually eat on average per year? Spoiler alert: there are more than you think!

Good food

During the upcoming long weekend we also give our self-discipline a day off, and we enjoy a lot of tasty treats. From sugar bread to croissants and from stuffed eggs to chocolate eggs. There are plenty of goodies to be found in the supermarket.

The transition from Christmas to Easter sweets runs so smoothly these days that we don’t have to go without festive sweets for a period. So there is a chance that you already indulged in Easter eggs a few weeks before Easter. We get it. Try to resist the temptation of brightly colored chocolate eggs – that’s more difficult than we would like.

Especially nowadays, with flavors ranging from classic milk, white and pure, to Licor 43, tompouce, tiramisu or Baileys: the temptation can sometimes be very great. And of course we can opt for a sugar-free variant or pay strict attention to the diet again after the weekend… but oh well.

With yet another egg that we mindlessly eat, we sometimes wonder: how many of these delicacies do we actually eat every year?

Research

A few years ago, HEMA took stock of the Easter egg-loving people. The chain was curious about how many chocolate eggs we actually eat. What turned out? Around Easter we make 47 Easter eggs. That certainly appeared to be the case in 2018, and there is a good chance that there are now a few more or fewer. But it probably won’t really differ much!

It is important that you treat yourself to a treat every now and then. We would therefore like to point out that you should definitely enjoy the Easter eggs during Easter. Just try not to make it too crazy. The Easter eggs are quite calorie bombs and an Easter egg contains about 45 calories. And we often eat several of them. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to burn it off again. For example, you can run for 5 minutes to burn an egg. Do you prefer walking? Then take 10 minutes to burn a chocolate. But above all: don’t forget to enjoy your wonderful long weekend. You deserve that too, nun?
