‘Everyone who had divorces and arguments in the past is simply sitting next to each other at Christmas dinner again’
Bibi Breijman recently announced that she is expecting her third child. Happy news, which of course makes this Christmas extra special for her. After a tough year, the singer can now fully enjoy the holidays. She tells Grazia what her plans are for Christmas.
Peace on earth
“For us it starts early, yesterday (end of October, ed.) I went to the garden center with Tedje and Ches (Bibi’s daughter and son, ed.),” says Bibi in Grazia. “I’m really a Christmas nerd. My mother’s birthday is Boxing Day, so we always have a party at her house,” she shares. The singer celebrates the holidays in the presence of her loved ones.
“The nice thing is that we really do that with the whole family. Everyone who used to have divorces and arguments is simply sitting next to each other at Christmas dinner again,” she says. “Then we will have a nice gourmet meal together and toast to life. That’s what Christmas is all about: peace on earth!”
Own album
2023 also had big highlights for Bibi, as she released her own album. “I was with a singer, and even though he gave me the feeling of equality, it still created a barrier,” she says about the reason why the album took a while. “I also wanted to do it on my own and find out for myself what I wanted. And of course I had a burnout and then I got pregnant. So it all took a little longer to find my way,” she explains.
“But I’m glad it’s finally here, and I’m really looking forward to going on stage with my music. Maybe I’ll also do a tour once I’ve expanded my repertoire a bit; it is a dream to one day be in Paradiso.” Sounds like a good resolution for 2024!
