Is Máxima trying Botox?

Pure nature or plastic fantastic?

It is absolutely impossible to read from her face that Máxima has now reached the age of 52. If we didn’t know how old she was, we would estimate her to be a good ten years younger. But does the queen owe this to her youthful spirit and good skincare routine, or can she (secretly) regularly be found at the botox clinic?

Royal botox

Women and men are increasingly opting for cosmetic surgery. And although it is not talked about, botox is of course no stranger to the royals. We all know the typical plastic surgery Barbie look with tightened eye corners and plumped-up lips. So far we have not seen these within the palace walls, but anyway: in 2024, a very subtle effect can be achieved with botox and fillers that you hardly notice.

Máxima’s youthful appearance

Precisely because a natural effect is now the norm in cosmetic procedures, royalty watchers speculate a lot about possible plastic surgery that royals may have undergone. Our own Máxima is also the subject of speculation. Because the queen may not have a typical ‘botox face’; she does look very good. And that’s suspicious, if royalty watchers are to be believed.

Good: we can hardly ask Máx about her Botox use, but luckily we can count on Máxima expert Josine Droogendijk. She did her research by zooming in on photos of the queen and studying her face millimeter by millimeter. And guess what? Besides some smudged eye shadow and crow’s feet, Josine cannot detect any traces of botox or fillers around Máxima’s eyes.

Not pure nature

Does that mean that the queen is completely pure nature? Not according to Josine. Because Máx is now never spotted with sloshing armpits, unlike in the past, she suspects that Her Majesty has had her glands blocked. However, this has never been confirmed, and could of course have been resolved in another way.

Another thing that Máxima has had some work done to, according to Josine, is her teeth. In 2017, an observant viewer spotted a transparent brace on the queen. So it is almost certain that this contributed to her radiant smile.

Anyway: although Máx of course has an almost enviable youthful appearance, we do not suspect that this is the result of endless Botox treatments. After all, we still see light wrinkles, fine lines and crow’s feet on her face. And that only makes the queen even more charming!
