We haven’t seen Charlene this cheerful in a long time!
The weekend started very cheerfully for Monegasque Prince Albert, who celebrated his 66th birthday last Thursday. However, there was no big party this weekend: Albert and Charlene went to France for a remarkable weekend away.

Of course you have to go all out for your monarch’s birthday party. We color orange on King’s Day, and in Monaco last week people showed up en masse with red and white flags in front of the palace. Here Albert and Charlene, together with twins Jacques and Gabriella, took the opportunity to thank those present for their congratulations. We haven’t seen Charlene this cheerful in a long time!

For the occasion, HDH wore a gray, rib-knit gown with a cache-coeur neckline and striking, loose-fitting sleeves. The highness paired her stylish gown with a set of matching gray Gianvito Rossi pumps and Cartier earrings.
Of course, fashion princess Gabriella was again dressed from head to toe in designer items – from a set of Baby Dior mules (580 euros) to a Dolce & Gabbana coat (1,280 euros). Well, nice for the two times she can wear it until she grows out again, nun?
French tour
After the birthday activities with the entire Grimaldi family, Albert and Charlene did not have time to relax this weekend – so the couple went on a true tour de France with a remarkable historical touch!

The princely couple visited the Haut-Rhin department, where they visited the places Feldbach, Dannemarie, and Thann. In Feldbach, Their Serene Highnesses unveiled a plaque at Saint-Jacques Church, officially designating the site as a ‘Site Historique Grimaldi De Monaco’.
Their visit was dedicated to the 700th (!) wedding anniversary of the late Albrecht II of Austria and Johanna van Pfirt. This fourteenth century power couple was the reason that the region of Ferrette (or Pfirt, in German) officially fell under Habsburg control. A few centuries later, the county would eventually end up in the hands of the Grimaldis, of whom the current generation is not afraid to pay a visit.
Once again Charlene was dressed in neutral tones, although this time she exchanged her fine knitted dress for a warm wool coat from PAROSH and a set of suede boots from Manolo Blahnik. Charlene also knows that you can’t go wrong with a pair of Manolos!
