Having a nice chat over a cup of coffee is fun, but can be quite expensive. How do you save that?
Black coffee
Are you curious about how much money you save when you don’t drink coffee outside? To keep things simple, we use black coffee as an example. Such a cup of coffee costs around three euros in a café. Do you drink one cup of coffee a week outside the home? That will cost you approximately 156 euros per year. Do you drink a coffee to go several times a week, for example at the station or at the café near your work? A black cup of coffee three times a week can easily cost you 468 euros a year.
A cup of coffee is a lot of money
But what do you pay for a cup of coffee at home? We have made an estimate for this:
- Filter coffee: 6 cents per cup
- Coffee beans: 8 cents per cup
- Senseo: 14 cents per cup
- Nespresso: 45 cents per cup
It may not be a surprise to you that a cup of coffee at home is a lot cheaper than out. We have also calculated this for you:
If you drink filter coffee and drink a cup outside three times a week, you will spend 36 euros per month. Of course, you can also do this at home, where you spend 72 cents for it. This will save you more than 35 euros.
In the same case, a cup of loose beans costs 96 cents, which leads to a difference of 35.04 euros.
The same number of cups per month amounts to 1.68 euros, where you ‘win’ 34.32 euros. And three cups of Nespresso in a week will cost about 5.40 per month, saving you 30.60.
Count your winnings
By drinking your cup of coffee at home you save more than 30 euros per month, which amounts to 360 euros per year! Then that bowl suddenly tastes much better.
