‘I sang my lungs out on the other side of the world.’
Although Glennis Grace has already done a lot of cool things in her career, she had a very special job last Saturday. The singer was given the honor of performing at a party of the royal family of Brunei.
Fiftieth birthday
The party was most likely given to mark Crown Prince Billah’s 50th birthday, which also happened to take place on Saturday. On her Instagram Stories, Glennis gives a small recap of her adventure in Brunei. “It was a bizarre experience that I will never forget,” said the singer. And it turns out that her singing skills were appreciated by the royals. “They even want me back sometime in August, so I’m a happy person.” We totally get that!
“Everything went well, I sang my lungs out at the other end of the world. I will be home again on Tuesday, but it was really crazy,” she concludes her story.
World famous artists
With this performance, Glennis Grace joins an impressive list of world-famous artists. It has become something of a tradition for Brunei’s royal family to welcome the world’s leading artists to their parties. For example, on the occasion of his 50th birthday, the Sultan paid Michael Jackson as much as $17 million to give concerts in a stadium for 60,000 people, which was built especially for this purpose.
Whitney Houston, who performed at his eldest daughter’s wedding, reportedly even received a blank check. You understand: no expense is spared within the Brunei royal family.
Mateen’s wedding
The royals proved this a month ago during another major royal event. That was when the ten-day wedding between Prince Abdul Mateen and his great love, Her Highness Anisha Roshah Binti Adam, took place. The ceremonies started on January 7 with the official proposal, and the traditional powder ceremony was scheduled for January 10. This was followed by a religious blessing attended by Prince Abdul.
A few days later we saw the bridal couple together for the first time during the ‘Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja’, a grand bridal ceremony in the sultan’s palace (decorated in gold and marble).

This ceremony was the highlight of the ten-day series of celebrations, and a lot of attention was paid to it. The new couple were officially presented as spouses for the first time. Many loving looks were exchanged back and forth! Particularly sweet and quite unique for the Brunei ‘prince dream’, who prefers to present himself as cool as possible on his Instagram.
