In the popular knowledge quiz De Slimste Mens they are busy looking for the smartest celebrity in the Netherlands. However, TV viewers sometimes turn out to be smarter than the participants and makers. In Thursday evening’s episode, viewers discover yet another mistake in the question, which participant Annemieke Hoogendijk also gets away with. Oops!
Viewers discover a mistake in The Smartest Man
It secretly seems like a test by the makers of De Slimste Mens. Perhaps without our knowledge they are looking for ‘unknown’ participants for a spin-off of the popular knowledge quiz. In any case, TV viewers occasionally turn out to be smarter than the well-known participants and makers of the TV program. In the broadcast of Thursday evening, January 18, a number of viewers discovered an error in a question during the round ‘3-6-9’. Oops! In this episode we see actor Joes Brauers, comedian Tim Hartog and actress Annemieke Hoogendijk, who 90s kids probably know as ‘Mrs Stemband’ from The Big Mister Kaktus Show.
Four or two rooms?
It is the latter that gets the question with the error. “How many chambers does the human heart have?” asks presenter Philip Freriks, after which she responds after much thought: “Four.” According to the makers, the answer is correct and badass Maarten van Rossem is also not involved. However, according to some viewers, the answer to the question is incorrect. They think that a heart has only two chambers. “The heart has two chambers and two atria,” Sjoerd responds on social media channel X. “Four cavities, but two chambers.”
“How many chambers does the human heart have?” The heart has two chambers and two atria; So 4 cavities but two rooms. So wrong answer! #smartpeople @dsmtw

When you look up the question via Google, you initially read something about four ‘chambers’ of the heart. Although they officially call it four cavities, where you have two front chambers (atria) and two chambers (ventricles). However, the Heart Foundation website states that the heart indeed consists of two chambers: a left and a right chamber. The other two cavities, they say, are called atria, as the viewers say.
More blunders
It is not the first time that the makers of De Slimste Mens have made a mistake in the question. For example, in the past a question was asked about the quote ‘I’ve never done it before, so I think I can do it’. According to De Slimste Mens, this quote is from Pippi Longstocking, but this has now even been denied by Pippi’s creator. Author Astrid Lindgren’s website states: “This quote is widely available and is often believed to have been said by Pippi Longstocking, but Astrid Lindgren did not write it and there is no known source reference.”
