Don’t you feel like doing something? In 2022, the Danish royal family caused a sensation: Queen Margrethe of Denmark (83) revoked the title of four of her grandchildren. This bothered her son Prince Joachim (54), so there was radio silence for some time. In the meantime, however, the estranged family members are slowly getting closer again. Now a special day is approaching for the Danish royals: Prince Frederik (55) will be named king. But Joachim’s family probably won’t take part in the ceremony!
Like Hello! reports, the Danish royal family is said to not be completely complete on this historic day: While the monarch’s youngest son is traveling from the USA specifically to support his brother, his family will be staying away from the special event: “Prince Joachim will be there, but “The children go to school. There is no special reason,” explains a palace spokesman. Also his wife Princess Marie will remain with her children in the United States.
Margrethe previously announced in her New Year’s speech that she wanted to give up her post as head of Denmark after 52 years of rule: “I have decided that now is the right time.” She also mentioned her deteriorating health. On January 14th, her son Frederik is crowned king.
