Today is Monday again. This means that – after a wonderful weekend – you were shipped back to the office by livestock transport this morning. Yippie. But the worst part: it’s not just Monday, it’s Blue Monday.
Blue Monday
The third Monday in January has been officially declared Blue Monday. Blue Monday is, according to British psychologist Cliff Arnall, the most depressing day of the year. Why? Very little has come of the good intentions, the first bills are arriving again and summer is still a long way away. Very far away? And I don’t think we need to explain to you why Monday is the worst day of the week in the first place.
But for all the depressed ladies among us, Ze.nl gives some tips to get through the day dancing and jumping!
- Buy a nice big Milka bar to use while entering those boring minutes. And above all, don’t give anything away to your colleagues.
- Put a hilarious photo on your desktop of a fun party with friends or your boyfriend. Or just put a photo of Wentworth Miller on your desktop to drool through the day.
- Play lame office pranks on your colleagues, such as putting a post-it on someone’s screen with the text “Mr. de Leeuw called you, would you like to call you back?” And then the number of Amersfoort zoo underneath. The blander, the better.
- Treat all your colleagues because it is Blue Monday.
- Or take an afternoon off and go shopping. Nice and quiet on Monday!
- Make an appointment to have dinner with a friend tonight and watch a movie. Then you have something to look forward to on this boring day.
- Gossip a lot via email with a nice colleague; always nice!
