It remains to be seen whether these speculations are true. After Queen Margrethe (83) announced her resignation as regent of Denmark, a new head will be crowned in just a few days. The monarch’s eldest son, Crown Prince Frederik (55), will follow in his mother’s royal footsteps. It seems that not all family members are welcome at the ceremony: Frederik’s nephews are not supposed to be there at the coronation!
The Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet reports that the siblings Count Nikolai (24) and Count Felix (21) had not received an invitation to their uncle’s coronation. The two are the eldest sons of Frederik’s younger brother Prince Joachim (54) and come from his first marriage to Alexandra von Frederiksborg. The palace has not yet commented on the rumors at this time.
The relationship between the brothers and their grandmother Margrethe is said to be tense. Because the 83-year-old stripped her eldest grandchildren of their prince title in autumn 2022. This step left Nikolai very disappointed, as he revealed to the tabloid magazine BT: “It’s a strange feeling and an experience that I would have preferred to have avoided.”
