Her priority was protecting her children.
Last week, Princess Kate herself announced in an emotional video statement that she had been diagnosed with cancer. It is claimed that she decided to make this statement to protect her children from questions at school.
Declaration
Kate planned to wait to go public about her health until her children’s school closed on Friday for the Easter holidays. She is said to have made the decision to make a statement after being confronted with the speculation on social media following the Photoshop edit of the family photo released on Mother’s Day.
Cancer
Princess Kate said in a video on Friday evening that she had been diagnosed with cancer last month. The cancer was discovered after she spent two weeks in a private clinic in London in January for abdominal surgery.

The message received many expressions of support. Kate and her husband Prince William appear to be ‘very moved’ by this. In addition to the many expressions of support, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are also said to have contacted them after hearing that Kate was being treated for cancer.
Currently, Kate is now on what is being described as the ‘recovery path’ after starting chemotherapy at the end of February. In the statement, she said: “I am doing well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and soul. Having William by my side is also a great source of comfort and reassurance.”
Details
There was speculation about details of Kate’s statement on BBC1’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme. The Sun editor Victoria Newton said the timing deliberately coincided with Kate’s three children’s last day at Lambrook School in Berkshire before the Easter holidays.
“I understand that the princess decided two weeks ago to make this public statement. The most important thing for her as a mother was protecting her children,” Victoria said. “She didn’t want more to be asked of them at school than was already the case. It was bothering them at school, so her plan was always to wait until the day before the Easter holidays. Obviously, they have had to endure an incredible amount of social media speculation, which has been very difficult for them. But for her the priority was always the children,” she continued her story.
The princess said in her statement: “Most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that suits them, and to reassure them that I will be fine .”
