Christmas at the Westfield Mall of the Netherlands
As usual, the Westfield Mall is the ultimate lifestyle destination and the one-stop-shop experience for all your (last minute) Christmas shopping. Whether you are looking for a nice gift for your friends and family, or a nice outfit for Christmas dinner. Westfield Mall has everything you’re looking for and more, all under one roof. Very nice now that temperatures are increasingly around freezing point!
On November 16, the Mall kicked off the Christmas season with a fantastic performance by none other than Emma Heesters. Now you can indulge in the Christmas atmosphere galore. Definitely worth a visit!
Wedgwood meets punk
Cute porcelain mugs that, on closer inspection, are not as innocent as they look, but are carriers of extreme texts. At the Amsterdam gallery KochxBos you can now admire a special collection of tableware, designed by modern artists. The artists were invited by the People’s Republic, a community that has reused the kilns, equipment and techniques of old English ceramic factories for this unique project. In this way, the old heritage was saved and the world now has several special collections of porcelain with a message.
The bowls, mugs, plates and teapots have a typical 60s Wedgwood look combined with graffiti-like shapes and raw texts about the environment and society. The tableware can be seen (and for sale. How nice as a Christmas present!) in the KochxBos gallery until January 19. A beautiful place, in the heart of the Jordaan in Amsterdam, where there is much more beautiful art to admire. Always colorful with a dreamy, sometimes dark and edgy edge. More info can be found here!
Watching couture in the Kunstmuseum The Hague
We were already fans of the Kunstmuseum The Hague, but now even more so! The Hague museum announced that they have expanded their Royals & Rebels – British Fashion with a true spectacle piece. Straight from the catwalk into the museum: this spectacular ‘Rainfall Coat’ by designer Robert Wun can now also be admired in The Hague!
At the beginning of this year, the London-based fashion label Robert Wun closed the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week and did so with a spectacular collection. One of the highlights of the Spring Summer 2023 Couture collection was without a doubt the black coat on which an enormous number of crystals give the effect of raindrops rolling down. These were attached by hand and took about 600 hours in total. In short: if you haven’t already been to the great exhibition, you now have another good reason to go. The Royals & Rebels exhibition can be admired until January 7, 2024.
Auction for charity at Ventuno
From this month, DRESS UNO: Rosalie’s Red Number can be viewed in the Amsterdam VENTUNO skylounge. This exclusive evening dress is a creation by emerging design talent Rosalie Boonstra. The dress is being auctioned to raise money for the Female Cancer Foundation, which is committed to a world without cervical cancer.
The dress gives an avant-garde Amsterdam twist to the glamorous spirit of New York in the roaring 20’s and fits in perfectly with the cheerful and vibrant atmosphere of the holidays. The highest bidder will receive the dress – custom made by Rosalie Boonstra – and a fully catered dinner for two people at VENTUNO. Do good, eat good, and glam well – what more could you want? First of all, the spectacular finale of The Crown can now be seen on Netflix. After the first set of episodes of the sixth season caused quite a stir, we can’t wait to see what happens in the very last set of episodes of the series.
From today on Videoland you can enjoy the film Candy & Bonita, a home-grown comedy with leading roles for Sanne Langelaar and Fockeline Ouwerkerk. You can also enjoy the Christmas special of Dertigers on NLZiet from tomorrow, which will only be broadcast on December 25.
In short, plenty to keep you entertained this weekend!
