The Queen receives wonderful news prior to her abdication!
Soon the Danish Queen Margrethe will officially no longer be the head of state of Denmark. She will pass the throne to her son Frederik next Sunday. But even in addition to her activities as monarch, she certainly does not sit still. And that has now earned Your Highness a particularly prestigious nomination!
Busy aunt
She is an enthusiastic queen, a committed family person, has been known for decades as a very pleasant person, and is also involved in archaeology, literature, art and culture. In short: even after her resignation, Margrethe will undoubtedly have plenty of fun to fill her days with.
We also saw this while she was still on the throne. For example, she has collaborated several times on sets and costumes for the national ballet, she illustrated the Danish editions of the Lord of the Rings books, and she collaborated on the film Ehrengard: The Art of Seduction on Netflix, a Danish aristo-romkom that published last year.
Nomination
And the latter collaboration has now earned the Queen a nice nomination. Her name is among several other creative geniuses who have a chance to win a so-called Robert Award. Simply put, this is the Danish version of the American Academy Awards and the British BAFTAs.
Margrethe has two nominations to her name. She has been nominated in the categories ‘Costume Designer of the Year’ and ‘Scenographer of the Year’. Will she actually win the prizes? That remains to be seen. The ceremony is scheduled for February 3.
Mission accomplished
It was already announced in 2021 that Margrethe would be co-responsible for the beautiful costumes and sets of the film, which is based on the book Ehrengard by Danish writer Karen Blixen. “Karen Blixen’s stories have always fascinated me because they are very aesthetic and image-creating,” the queen shared at the time.
“I tried to interpret Blixen’s wonderful universe in the development of the découpages and costumes,” she said. “I look forward to seeing Ehrengard’s story come to life in the film.”
Apparently that worked out well! Let’s hope that Her Highness will also be able to cash in on the nominations.
