Last night the Golden Globes were awarded for the 81st time in Beverly Hills. The best and most popular productions received the coveted golden trophies in a total of 27 film and television categories. Some people also treat the award ceremony as a precursor to the Oscars. Who did the jury choose this year? These films and series were well received Golden Globes 2024 will really take off!
The big star of the evening wasn’t a big surprise: the historical film “Oppenheimer” won in numerous categories. Director Christopher Nolan (53), leading actor Cillian Murphy (47) and supporting actor Robert Downey Junior (58) all received awards, the film even received the title “Best Drama”. A clear victory over the other film of the summer: Barbie – but Billie Eilish (22) was able to convince with her film song. Emma Stone (35) and Lily Gladstone also received awards as leading actresses. The German actress Sandra Hueller (45) was unable to assert herself with her film drama “Anatomy of a Case”.
There was also a clear winner in the world of series: the Shakespearean drama “Succession”! Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook were awarded for leading actors, Matthew Macfadyen for supporting actor. The dramedy series The Bear with Jeremy Allen White (32) and Ayo Edebiri was also convincing, as was Elizabeth Debicki (33) as Princess Diana (✝36) in The Crown.
