“Unless there’s a red laser dot on my chest.”
It has now escaped no one’s notice: Princess Kate’s controversial uncle is participating in Celebrity Big Brother. And while it was already assumed that Gary would sooner or later start spitting fire about the royal family, he certainly didn’t hold back during the very first episode. So when a fellow participant asks about the British royals, he goes wild.
Breathing fire
In the first episode, Gary couldn’t resist giving his opinion about the royals. For example, he was asked if he could talk about the British royal family, to which he replied: “I can give my opinion about almost anything, unless there is a red laser dot on my chest.”
And although everyone knows that he is anything but positive about Harry and Meghan, he does say that Harry was ‘really, really loved’. He also says that Harry, Prince William and Princess Kate had a mutual dynamic. “They felt really comfortable with each other.”
Second chance
Since Harry has been together with Meghan, he thinks so. “You can’t throw your family under the bus in such a dramatic way and write books about them and expect to be invited to Christmas,” referring to Harry’s book Spare.
“I think it’s really sad,” Gary adds. “But at some point I think he will come back and be part of the family again. Maybe he should too. I think we as a people are very forgiving. I think everyone will give him a second chance.”
Buncle
Gary also talked about what it’s like to be related to Princess Kate. “Do you want the truth? I didn’t sign for it. It happened to me and then you are suddenly in the spotlight. They call me ‘Buncle’, Bad Uncle. Apparently every family has them.”
